message from Tracy- First day in COP14

hello everyone,
now we're in the conference computer center.
this is our first day to be really involved in the conference. Finally we can begin our work.
This morning we tried to contact with some people we want to interview.
surprisingly, all of them are finally connect together in a same network.
tomorrow we'll have a chance to talk with them.
this afternoon we joined a meeting which got all the young representative from Asia together.
we found that the same situation almost happen in all countries:Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, HongKong.
How can we increase the "issue awareness" among youth? How do we stand out to speak something for what we are concerning?
what's the core competency of youth? passionate? young? practical? or anything you can imagine(those cliche)
It's true.
when all the youth get together, and we were not speaking for our own benefit, or for our own country.
we were not playing benefit exchange games,
instead, we stand on the same line and fighting against a same issue.
we were thinking about how can we do for this global issue.
I think this is the most important value that youth obtain: a pure care without any other concern.

actually, there is nothing too far for us.
once we decide to initiate, we'll get closer. we can do something, if we really concern about it.

hope that all of you will have a chance to come next year.
it will be impressive.

see you!

Charlene in COP14- Day1 (12/8)

Hey, this is Charlene from COP14. Although we just arrived Poznan today, I had an awesome day today.

I met a lot of people and was in a press conference of youth delegation. There are youth representatives from the U.S.A., Sweden& Russia( I think he's a mix), Republic of Congo, Australia, and Peru. They stood at the point of youths from different continents around the globle and spoke out the youth statements of each continent. I like the Australian youth representative the most because she made some strong statements as a youth, and claimed that she would be ashamed of Australia if it doesn't take actions to devote to the betterment of the global environment. It's really a lot of fun that we could be in the conference room. It's really hot in there, so I think some parts of the confernce is actually a waste of energy. Unfortunately there was NO Asian youth representative in the press conference today and that's a thing I think we should work on for COP15. I hope that I could have the chance to attend COP15 next year. Or maybe we could be one of the youth representatives on the stage, making some statements from Asia.

Now I am the co-ordinator of a group in a Asia Youth Forum, aiming to create more access to the negotiation among countries for the developing countries in Asia.(like the youths from Bangladesh, India, Thailand, etc.) I hope that I'll get some things done before the end of the conference. I heard the youth representative from Congo that there are about 500 youth delegate in COP14, but there are only less than 5 people from Africa. We should really concern about the injustice when we're negotiating among countries. And the injustice issue is what I am interested in the conference.

The Asia Youth Forum went quite slow today. I think it was because of the language problem. Sometimes I even couldn't understand what the people were talking about. I hope that I could meet some people from other countries that I could talk more about topics concerning youth activities. Tomorrow morning, we'll have more contact with the youth from all over the world. Wait for our news!!

That's about it for today. Hope to see you guys soon.

regards from Poznan, Poland

Networking
