Charlene in COP14- Day 2 (12/9)

It's Charlene again!

Today we had an interview with a German girl. She's a 27- year- old girl who founded an organization that provides a platform for young people to have the opportunity of youth participation. We talked something about her personal experiences like how she started to devote herself into this field and her personal stories. We also talked about her visions or personal opinions concerning youth participation. It was our first interview and it was a good start. Since she learned some Chinese before, I kind of forced her to "show off" her Chinese in the film we shot.

In the afternoon I had a small discussion, or say, forum with a girl from Korea. I really enjoy having discussion with her because we are talking about something concrete. We even made concrete plans of the stages to realize our ultimate goal. We had our lunch quite late (like 14:30) with an Japanese girl, the Korean girl I had discussion with, and an Indian guy who now leads an NGO in India (and his NGO has been cooperated with AIESEC!!!!) We talked about a lot of stuff during our lunch, and I learned about some special things about India after the conversation with him, which was quite informative.

Late in the evening, I went to the Asian Youth Forum again, and we had some discussions over the issues we just started yesterday. My group came to the idea to form an Asian youth platform within 3 years. But there are a lot of things need to be done if we want to make this platform works because like Indonesia, they don't even have a concrete youth organization. They are merely part of the NGOs in Indonesia. What's more, the communication within Indonesia sucks. There are limited place to log on the internet within Indonesia(only places like offices or schools). And most of them have to go to the internet Cafe to use the internet because usually they don't have internet connection at home. (this will stop some people to use the internet since you have to pay for it) Anyway, it's a long way for Asia to go in my personal opinion since the language and border boundaries within Asia are far more complicated than other regions in the world.

In the youth forum, I met a guy from China, who is working on a program now in China. He has some interesting ideas. and I already attached the file of the program he's now running to you guys.

I'll see you tomorrow!!
